Ita Dagger

Ita is a Spanish and German teacher with a B.A International (hons) from NUI Maynooth who acted as Deputy Principal for Belmayne ETSS in 2019/2020. As part of her international degree she spent a year at the RWTH university in Aachen, Germany where she spent a year studying Spanish, German, Portuguese and Dutch under the Erasmus programme.  After completing her degree, she spent a year teaching in Toledo, Spain. Ita also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies (hons) from Dublin City University as well as a Professional Diploma in Education (hons) from Trinity College, Dublin.
Ita has a particular interest in student engagement and active teaching methodologies and believes the best way to learn a language is to live it. It is for this reason she believes that eTwinning is a fantastic platform to form links and work on projects with other schools around the world.  She is also committed to the use of Restorative Practice and places huge value on positive relationships in the school community. Ita has worked for the State Examinations Commission examining Leaving Certificate Oral exams and continuously strives to improve her subject knowledge. She is a long term member of the Association of Spanish Teachers in Ireland which helps her to stay connected with other Spanish teachers and to share ideas and resources. In her spare time, Ita enjoys going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.
