Marie has worked in education for over fifteen years. She studied English, Geography and Sociology at DCU before completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Education at UCD. Before entering teaching, she completed an introductory course in journalism and photography, submitted articles for publication and has completed some creative writing courses.
Marie taught English in the UK, where she also took on leadership roles as an English subject specialist and whole-school Literacy Coordinator. Since returning to Ireland, she has worked primarily in Hansfield ETSS, teaching English, Geography and Philosophy, while also coordinating Ethical Education.
She was seconded to Oide as a Professional Learning Leader (PLL), supporting teachers in implementing new initiatives and curricula, including developments in both Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle. The role gave her the opportunity to work closely with colleagues and support teaching and learning across a range of settings.
At the heart of Marie’s work is a genuine passion for English and for helping students to find their voice and express themselves creatively. She particularly enjoys seeing students grow in confidence and discover a love of language and literature. Marie is excited about the opportunity to bring this enthusiasm to Belmayne ETSS and is looking forward to working with both staff and students as part of the school community.
