1st Year by Sean and Jalen

During our last committee of this term there was a ton of stuff that happened In first year, including our trip to cardingford!, us first years had lots of fun there,we did laser tag kayaking, skypark and archery,

 then we had our first year girls who won the Leinster basketball finals a few weeks ago,

And finally we have our may summer assessments next/this week 🙁

This term in first year we did a garden project in maths it was a fun way of learning area and perimeter we worked in groups designing our garden we got put in different groups for criteria for our garden design we did scaled measurements 

first and second years ran in a relay the boys from Tesla won the relay and the girls from mata won they did it on the new Astro that was recently built in the school

2nd Year by Blake and Cathal

2nd year recently went on a school trip to Belfast, where we went to Belfast, we visited places in Belfast such as the Stormont Parliament Building and many other places

We went to the Stormont Parliament Building, where we had a guided tour around the parliament building where we got to see the chambers of parliament.

We also went to Crumlin Road Gaol, where we got to explore around the jail, and got to see where the prisoners stayed and got to also have time for shopping after!

Finally, we went to Belfast Zoo, where all of 2nd year got to walk around the zoo having a look at all the amazing animals that were in the zoo such as gorillas, giraffes, lemurs, and a lot more!

3rd Years

The third years completed their Home Economics practical exam, right after the Spring break. They made a number of delcious dishes, which showcased some of the culinary and creative skills they learned over the past three years. The exam was worth 50% of their final grade so they were all delighted to have that in the bag :)!

6th Year by Taylor

Woah— term 4.. time has flown by, it’s near the end of the year. Let’s check in and see what the sixth years have been up to. While they’ve been busy revising, the sixth year graduation is close to coming up on the 22nd, so they’ve been busy preparing speeches, how everything will go and so on to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible aside from all the stress, tears and excitement; it will be exciting to see how it all comes together and how many tears will be cried.

Aside from grad preparation, extra mock exams were organised by teachers (special thanks to those for this) for subjects like History, Biology, Geography & Home Economics to help with study and getting feedback on what needs improvement in preparation for the Leaving Cert that is ever so close to starting so they’ll be prepared to face whatever the SEC throws at them in the coming weeks. Furthermore, the sixth year students are set to participate in a match versus the teachers after school next week before the graduation – this will certainly be a sight worth seeing on who wins; similar to the match a few weeks back where both year groups went against each other.

1st Year by Jalen and Sean

Over the past week, the First Years had a garden competition in maths where they had to design a garden, and use maths to find the area of some shapes. We also learn about area of squares, triangles, rectangles, even circles, and more! Unfortunately though, they swapped out STEAM for the garden project.

As of the time of writing, (27/3/2026,) we have our Easter break tomorrow! It is 2 weeks. Then after that (plus a few days), we have our Carlingford trip on April 23rd which will be really fun for us first years and our first school trip in secondary school! Nice.

They had an assessment week too, and it was their first week with our choice subjects! Other than that, not much else happened.

2nd Year by Sam, Cathal and Callum

We have finished our march assessments, they were a very though time as they were very difficult. However all the 2nd years did very well on our tests

Arthur Kenevey and Mohdlskandar MohdSyafiz went to the pi quiz, they did very well with our school getting place ranging from 1st to 15th.

Our trip to Belfast is coming up soon, it’s 23rd and 24th it’s the week after we come back from our Easter break which lasts for two weeks. All the 2nd years going to Belfast are very exited with us doing many activities, there is so many of us going we are being split up into two groups 

Our AP classes have done our auditions for our teacher who will decide which team will go to the Abbey Theatre just after the break so far we don’t know who is going but we know a group from each 2nd year class is going which results in 5 groups going to the Abbey Theatre 

There hasn’t been a lot in the this term for 2nd year but there was still some stuff that was really cool

Transition Year

The musical Footloose was presented by the transition years on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The musical went great on all nights and the work put in by the transition years was greatly appreciated through the skilful acting, beautiful decorations, and a great backstage crew which controlled music, sound and organised quick scene changes. A special shout out goes to Sinead and all of the drama department who made this musical a reality.

5th Year by Daniel

For this term, the 5th years were able to go to Google to learn about jobs in the female industry and how people got to the positions they are in now. We also learnt a lot about AI and how it works. We also had our February exams.

1st Year by Jalen and Sean

Last term, there were a few things that happened, but it was definitely not the most interesting term. Such as Scifest. Scifest is a festival about science. Here’s how it went! We went into groups, and we decided what our experiment shall be. We spent the following few weeks experimenting, collecting and analysing data, producing results, constructing posters, and enjoying doing Scifest in general.

Once Scifest arrived, we were full of excitement. But, let me tell you, it was… a tad bit boring. And tiring for the legs, if you were subjected to standing without a seat. But it was quite enjoyable, nonetheless. There were parents and science-related people going around to different posters and groups. The First year winners of scifest were Eacen, Mark and Rory.

This term, however, we have our upcoming March (or more accurately February, but for some reason that’s not what it’s called,) assessments. This is when we then do our first tests for our choice subjects! Then on Friday, presumably the next week or the week after that, we have a first year morning breakfast, but we couldn’t gather much information about it yet.

2nd Year By Sam, Cathal, Blake, Callum

Since the winter break we have had…

Mentor lessons, which happens during STEAM class on some days, the mentor lessons are when adults or teachers go and talk about ehat they did and stuff like college so we can improve on their mistakes and grow.

Sci-fest has also taken place since the break, Sci-fest is when every student makes a project and then they have a showcase one day, they are also judges by some volunteers and representatives from Sci-fest. They pick the best projects from every year, the winners get a medal and a trip to DCU to celebrate their achievement.

All the 2nd Year AP classes have done a play called “end of the garden” where if you perform it very well, you will win a trip to the Abbey Theathre.

3rd Year by Vitalina and Nadezhda

The third years went on a reward trip on the 13th of February. They enjoyed a day out doing airsoft, and had nice pizza after. Since the third years worked so hard during the mocks this trip was extra special.

On Tuesday the 24th of March our school competed in a regional maths competition called Pi Quiz 2026. The students who went were from second and third year. They did very well placing 1st, 6th and 14th out of 41 teams. Schools all across Dublin competed and Santa Sabina hosted. Thanks to Aoife for taking them! Everyone who went had a lot of fun and learned a lot from the experience!

5th Year by Daniel

In term 2 the fifth years got to go on a thrilling ski trip in Italy staying in 4 star hotel , the group was divided into 2 groups and learned how to ski down the slopes some went on black slope some didn’t , they also learned how to stop and go safely down the slopes also majority of the group that went came back uninjured, a select number of 5th years also went to TUD Tallaght to do a  course  with nvidia and they learnt how to train AI to recognise differences between pictures.

6th Year by Taylor

Let’s go back to the start of the year. The sixth year students have battled their way to the middle strand of the grind for the Leaving Cert, with not long left to go – there’s plenty of room for revision as the mock exams dawn upon them.

Shunting down the track to January, sixth year history was paid a visit by a former sixth year student, Callum Reid, who came to speak to both history classes in which he shared some great advice on how to achieve a H1 in History, this will definitely steer history revision onto the right path. Aside from that, Andrew’s sixth year music students took a trip out to TU Dublin to see performance and learn knowledge on their set work ‘Seachanges’ by the composer Raymond Deane. Leading up to the mock exams, mock oral exams were arranged to take place before the week of the mocks, this was put together by both the Irish & Spanish department – this gave the students a feel of what to expect leading up to the real thing.

Powering down to February, not a lot of events took place involving the sixth years aside from the mocks and the stresses of the CAO. The sixth years applied to the CAO, listing the course choices they feel best suited to which all depend on the points they receive in the state exams. The mocks on the other hand, ran over a course of around two weeks following everyone’s hard work and determination in terms of study. It can be said, it was a tiring week for the sixth year that was compensated by the week off afterwards that was most definitely deserved. The mocks will help in guiding the students to make sure they get the results they want in June.
